There is no doubting the beauty of the Dalmatian coast. Crystal clean waters, endless beaches and unmatched serenity of the Adriatic blue.  However, enjoying the Zadar archipelago by boat enhances the perspective 10 fold. Why not allow yourself this luxury when visiting O’live Residence? O’live Residence is situated in the perfect spot for those that enjoy boating.  If you have your own boat, berths are readily available at Marina Dalmacija, a stone’s throw from O’live.  Or at one of the small marina’s in Bibinje. Enjoy the sandy beaches of Ugljan

Kostanj Beach(2,5NM from O’live Residence) & Mala Sabuša Beach (5,5 NM from O’live Residence)

Two great little beaches, not more than a 20min boat ride from O’live Residence and Bibinje. Kostanj is facing North East and is  a great place to drop anchor and swim, especially when the south wind is blowing.  It’s  sand beach, and quite shallow. Mala Sabuša is on western side of the Island of Ugljan.  It too is a sandy beach, quite shallow and great place to drop your anchor, protected from the North, South and West winds.

South Harbour (15Nm from O’live Residence) – Island of Ugljan

Not only a great beach for boating, but it is also accessible by car. Car ferry from Zadar runs every 45mins.  Top end of Ugljan island, accessible either via the west or east side of the island.  Beach can get a little busy during the summer season, but nice place to anchor.  Around the point there is a small harbour with restaurants.  So a great day trip.

Nothing like a great Beach Bar – for a care free day!

Hakuna Matata – beach bar on the island of Vrgada  (16 NM from O’live Residence) Fantastic little beach bar, with sandy beach.  Buoys are provided by the cafe for mooring, and as it is shallow.  Beach bar is accompanies with a restaurant, with great street food that suits a cold beer or aperol spritza (for those not driving!). Note: If you take the inside islands, be sure to check your speed.  No cruising within 300m of land.  As there are a lot of little islands in between, you will find the local port authorities monitoring speed and handing out fines.  Be sure you do not give them a reason to fine you!

Explore the majestic Kornati Archipelago

From O’live Residence, we have the luxury of and easy passage to the Kornati archipelago. Below are a few spots worth the visit on the outskirts and entry of the Kornati archipelago.

Beach Lojišča  (16 Nm from O’live Residence).

Beach Lojišča is actually part of the Telaščica national park.  It is on the outside part of Dugi otok.  Nice sandy beach to visit early morning and spend a few hour swimming and sun bathing. Being part of the national park, you may find a ranger will ask you to pay a daily ticket.  Our tip, let him know you are moving on, pull up anchor and leave.  While you’re here, you may wish to visit the Telaščica lake – Mir. Beach Lojena  (17,5Nm from O’live Residence)

This beach is part of the Kornati National park.  It, as above, is possible that a ranger may ask you for a ticket.  Same applies, let him know you’re on your way out J.  Or you can buy a ticket and spend your day there! Great beach for chilling and relaxing.  Crystal clear waters.  See video below:

Pinizelić

Great little spot for anchoring and relaxing.  Relatively shallow bit of water way, quiet and calm.  Great for a swim and a quick summer nap.  Just outside the Kornati Archiepelgo. Location: https://goo.gl/maps/GDUA2hLNeahMSkfq8

How about a full day trip?  Ready to explore the Dalmatian coastline?

Day trip Dugi otok  (20+ NM from Bibinje).  Visit the U Boat Bunker, dive the sunken ship ‘Michelle’, swim at the famous Sakarun sandy beach

For those more adventurous and have the luxury of not worrying about the cost of fuel, try a day trip to the North of Dugi Otok.  Some interesting and adventurous sights to see.

In fact, not too far from Zadar you can find two naval bunkers.  Both on Dugi Otok.  Built after WWII, it served as a hideaway for U-boats and naval vessels.  Easily visited by boat.  Tie up, walk the tunnels, or jump into the crystal blue sea

Sunken Ship Michelle (8Nm from the U-boat bunker, 23Nm from Bibinje).

Dive through the doors of the sunken ship Michelle. In not more than 10m of water.  Michelle was an Italian transport ship that went down on the mid 70’s. It ran aground in shallow waters.

Famous sandy beach of Sakarun (6,5 NM from Michelle; 29,5 NM from Bibinje).

Just around the corner from Michelle you will find the famous Sakarun beach.  Long sandy beach with shallow area’s for swimmers.  You’ll find a few beach bars around, for drinks and food.  Or bring you own and enjoy the blue water of Sakarun.

DAY TRIP: Beach getaway – Baia Slatina (26 NM from Bibinje)

Perhaps one of the nicest beaches you will find, only accessible for boat, can be found on the island of Olib.  Ensure the winds are low, as the trip will take some time.  For those wishing for the ultimate Robinson’s Crusoe getaway then Baia Slatina is a must!
